VATA/KAPHA

Your constitution is predominantly air and water. When balanced, you are energetic, adaptable, and cheerful. You are also loyal, consistent, and usually feel comfortable in any situation. When Vata and Pitta predominates, you may feel cold, may have excess weight, and mentally feel lethargic.

Diet
To bring air into balance you need to:

• Consume more cooked foods.
• Take herbs that help digest food
• Eat smaller meals, 3 to 4 hours apart, but you may skip your breakfast if you wish so.
• Eat mainly pungent, hot and bitter tasting foods. Sweet-tasting foods (sweet fruits like pears or bananas) may be eaten in moderation.
• Avoid eating potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and chilies as they may cause allergic reactions to both you and your breastfed baby.
• Don’t combine milk with yeasted grains. A toast is fine though.

Massage
Massage the feet, lower back, shoulders, and neck preferably before bed.

Aromatherapy
Sandalwood, lotus, frankincense, cinnamon, basil and camphor can be used as oil, incense, soap, or candles to calm and refresh. Be careful with camphor, though, if being under homeopathic treatment.

Color Therapy
Most colors are uplifting, particularly yellow, gold, orange, and some red.
Lighter and pastel shades are best for your dosha type. Dark grays, browns and black are better avoided in both home decoration and clothes.

Gem Therapy
Emerald, jade, yellow sapphire, topaz, and citrine set in gold are warming, and therefore they would balance your dosha type. Ruby and garnet improve circulation and energy and are good, too. Stones are most effective when set to touch the skin.

The Real Nappy Guide
A friend of mine told me a story the other day. She’s got a 2-year old lovely daughter, Ester. When Ester was a baby, mum started her on disposable nappies. Besides, I wasn’t aware about… Read more
