Teething
Teething can be a horrible time for babies. Not only does a new tooth cause pain and discomfort for your little one, it also can be scary to have something new growing inside their mouth. While there are lots of products on the market, such as baby Tylenol and teething gels, these products can be dangerous for your child. Before you go shopping at the pharmacy aisle, try some of these natural remedies to stop teething pain.
Distract the baby from a pain with a toy. Focusing on the pain can make it worse, so try to entertain your precious one and to give her something else to think about.
Food
Well washed carrots or frozen bananas can be a great relief for a teething baby. Plus they taste good too. Just don’t give a baby with teeth since they can break off and choke on.
Clove Oil
Cloves contain oils that have warming, numbing properties. Clove oil can be rubbed on sore gums to relieve pain, but only use a tiny amount, as it is quite potent and too much can upset your baby's stomach.
Vanilla extract
Rubbing a little bit on baby’s gums not only feels warm and calming. Vanilla is known as a soothing yet energizing agent that reduces anxiety and promotes feelings of well-being. Vanilla has long been used to cure stomach distress: a baby whose stomach is mildly upset may find vanilla soothing to the tummy as well as the nerves.
Immune system
Just an advice is not to introduce any new foods while your little one is teething. While teething, children’s immune system gets weaker, so giving her a new food may upset her tummy and even provoke a sensitivity reaction. Wait a few days while the worse period is off, and then continue offering new tastes and textures gradually.
The weakened immune system while teething might be a reason for a mildly raised temperature (but not over 37.5’C), a runny nose and a mild nappy rash. Kids are more prone to infections during the teething periods, so try to boost your child’s immune system naturally.
