PITTA/KAPHA

Your constitution is predominantly fire and water. When balanced, you are adaptable and cheerful, goal-oriented, and a leader. If imbalanced you are often hot tempered, over-critical and impatient. You may develop skin problems like rashes or eczema, allergies, eye problems, ulcers, and diarrhea. Other health issues you may have are bronchitis, being overweight, and feeling lethargic.

Diet
To bring your dosha into balance you need to:

• Consume more bitter and astringent energies in the form of food, aromas, and herbs.
• Avoid eating potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, and chilies, as they may cause allergic reactions to both you and your breastfed baby.
• Avoid hot foods like onions, garlic, and red peppers, fermented or fried foods, and salt.
• Don’t combine milk with yeasted grains. You may have your toast for breakfast.

Massage
Massage the feet, lower back, shoulders and neck before bed or exercise.

Aromatherapy
Cooling aromas like sandalwood, lotus, rose, and jasmine are best. You may want to mix them with some warming oils like frankincense, cinnamon, or basil. Use them as massage oil, incense, soap, or candles to calm and refresh yourself.

Color Therapy
Green and sky blue are best. White and pink reduce Pitta but will derange Kapha. Reds, oranges, yellows, and bright colors will help Kapha, but will tend to aggravate Pitta. Choose colors as needed for home and office furnishings and in clothing.

Gem Therapy
Emerald, jade, moonstone, and pearls set in silver reduce Pitta. Ruby and garnet, yellow sapphire, topaz and citrine, improve circulation and energy for Kapha.
