Green Toys for Green Kiddies
When it comes to toys, go as natural as possible. Toys are not just for fun.
Children have a natural desire to explore and discover things for themselves. Your little one should have the chance to create his own play experience. If you buy her a plastic toy with lost of lights, buttons and sounds, he will become a passive participant in the game that only gets to watch the something happening. Simple and natural toys like wooden blocks, for example, will push him to be creative, to explore all possibilities and to find out many ways to play with them. There are many studies showing that these types of toys encourage kids to be problem solvers by encouraging them to thing “out-of-the-box”.
Babies and toddlers tend to put everything in their month as a part of exploring the world around then, and toys make no exception. Children learn through play, and providing them with “green” toys will start theirs predisposition to being green and earth-friendly later in life. Aim for toys that help build a child’s bond with nature and the natural world. Remember that children are in the beginning of learning about the world around them. It is very important to provide them with toys that give a better image of the nature.
Avoid in any case the cold metal or the full of chemicals plastic toys. Try those wooden toys and organic cotton teddies. Wood is a warm material, which your little one will love to touch and explore. Cotton teddy bears are great option, too. They are soft, chemicals-free and in most cases hypoallergenic.
You could even try to create some natural toys yourself. Just be a little bit creative. Get a wooden spoon, draw up a happy face on its back, wrap a cotton cloth around it, and here we go – there is the perfect “green” doll. Your little one will love it, and it comes so cheap on you!
