Constipation

In most cases the reason for constipation in babies and young children is not enough fluids and vitamin C in the diet, introduction of difficult to digest foods when weaning begins; some changes in his life like being away from home; unsuitable formula milk if not breastfeeding; or a fever which is using up the bodies fluids.

Weaning
When weaning your little one make a note of any foods that cause constipation and avoid those until a later date when the digestion will be stronger. For the same reason it is best to delay the weaning until your baby is at least 6 months.

Fluids
Give your baby over 6 months and toddler a lot of fluids – water, freshly squeezed unsweetened juices, and herbal infusions. Ginger, chamomile or peppermint tea is often given for all digestive problems. Aloe juice might be very beneficial, as well, as it helps with the toxins elimination and is a natural tonic for the body.

Herbal tea
Ginger, peppermint or raspberry leaf tea is often given for all digestive problems. Very good and mild for babies gut are also herbs like fennel, chamomile and fenugreek.

Vitamins and minerals
Increase your consumption of foods rich invitamin C – kiwi fruit, potatoes broccoli, parsley, citrus fruit, blueberries, red peppers, blackcurrants, Brussels sprouts, mango.
Increase your consumption of foods rich in magnesium - kiwi fruit, dark green leafy vegetables, broccoli, and soaked dried apricots.
Fruits such as prunes, pears, apple and banana are particularly good. Give freshly prepared baby food as much as possible.

Help your child stay active
An outside play in the park or the nearest playground can really improve bowel mobility. You may also want to try baby and toddler yoga, which is excellent for any digestive issues.

Massage
Massaging gently your child’s tummy clockwise can help with digestion. Do this for a couple of minutes every day to prevent from things happening on the first place.
